PROGRESS IN CHAPEL CONSTRUCTION: The second phase of construction, from decking to lintel (before roofing stage) began in January 2011 and has already gone half way. This second phase takes care of the chapel nave (body) and has to cost about 8 million Naira to complete. The seminary needs about 4.5 million Naira more to complete it. The seminary devotes a lot of prayer, time, energy and planning to raising of funds. We remain grateful to God for the daily progress recorded in construction. We call on the Bishops to help us with this 4.5 million Naira to expedite construction work.

TESTIMONY Almost six years in the seminary have been ones of self discovery, development and a profound deepening of my relationship with the Lord and through the academic studies of our faith. They have been good years, and a real privilege to have been asked to study in Rome. As the day approaches of my ordination (July 30th), I am conscious of God’s presence and the guidance of the Holy Spirit. These are exiting times with many challenges ahead but with the grace of the Holy Spirit and the intercession of Mary I am very excited at the prospect.

AND WITH YOUR SPIRIT  THE NEW LITURGY

The New Academic/Formation Year 2011/2012 is the 15th since the seminary opened in November 1997.
Always, during the first one week of the year, the seminary organizes environmental sanitation and life-in-the seminary colloquium/orientation. Other events that have followed since reopening are: Visit of Alumni (2011 priests), Pro-life Weekend, Christ the King Procession, Entrepreneurship Weekend, Blessing of Pig farm extension, Harvest & Bazaar, CWO visit, Solemn Inauguration of 2011/2012 year, as well as the annual Pro-life March on World AIDS Day, December 1. Perhaps the most striking event so far in this Academic/Formation Year is the transition to the new revised liturgy in English (first Sunday of Advent). ‘And also with your spirit’ has replaced ‘And also with you.’ Now it is ‘The Mystery of Faith’ instead of ‘Let us proclaim the mystery of faith.’ There are so many other changes that one is likely to make mistakes if one presumes that certain things still remain as before. Perhaps the happy thing about it all is that change is part of life. Permit me then to wish you, ‘May God bless your spirit’ as we enjoy the ‘new’ liturgy.
